Support terms
A short read.
What contributions fund
Contributions to the Tenth Seat fund the time and infrastructure required to produce its opinions: reading the record, retrieving and verifying precedent, drafting and editing, hosting, and the payment-processing fees that arrive with the transaction itself.
What contributions do not buy
Contributions do not buy editorial influence. They do not buy coverage of a particular case, a particular outcome, or a particular legal position. They do not buy a name in any published opinion. Every Tenth Seat opinion is written to the same standard regardless of who has supported the project and at what level. If a contribution arrives with an editorial request attached, it will be refunded.
Tax status
The Tenth Seat is not a registered 501(c)(3) charity. Contributions are not tax-deductible.
Recurring contributions
Monthly and annual contributions renew automatically until cancelled. You can cancel a recurring contribution at any time from the self-service manage your support page (Stripe-hosted; verifies your email with a one-time code). You can also cancel by replying to any Stripe receipt email or by emailing contact@tenth-seat.com. Cancellation stops future charges; it does not retroactively refund prior charges.
Refunds
If you contributed by mistake — wrong amount, accidental recurring, second pass at checkout — email contact@tenth-seat.com within 30 days and the contribution will be refunded in full, no explanation required. Refunds are processed through Stripe and usually appear on the original card within 5–10 business days.
Processing
Payments are processed by Stripe, Inc. Stripe holds your card data; the Tenth Seat does not see or store it. Stripe’s terms and privacy policy govern the payment itself.
